艺术委员会

The 艺术委员会 is a group of volunteers from the University and its surrounding communities who seek to foster and encourage an appreciation and enjoyment of the fine and performing arts. The council’s ultimate goal is to develop a lasting appreciation of the arts, which will encourage active involvement either as participants or as informed spectators.

Artists: Nancy Bueti-Randall and Deborah Katz

The paintings by Nancy Bueti-Randall and Deborah Katz reveal more than a description of colorful floral landscapes and still life imagery. Working with expressive brushstrokes gives insight into the artists’ personal energies and emotions. Embracing the evident application of paint to canvas pays homage to past movements in art history, from impressionism to abstract expressionism.

This exhibition celebrates the culminating body of artwork by senior art students in the areas of painting, 画, 陶瓷, fiber sculpture and digital design. St. Joseph’s University is proud to feature participating artists Alyssa Andrews, 茱莉亚Cappiello, Jared Glennon, 梅根·洛根, Catherine Siounis and Julia Witzke.

Waltzes and Songs From The City of Dreams: Franz Schubert's Vienna

Muriel and Virginia Pless Center for Performing Arts

President Boomgaarden will perform two famous Impromptus (Op. 142, No. 降a调和Op. 90, No. 2 in E-flat) by Franz Schubert, as well as Franz Liszt’s Soirées de Vienne, a virtuosic transcription of several of Schubert’s most beloved waltzes for piano. The program will also include several songs
by Schubert, featuring St. Joseph’s Anna Malzone, director of the 艺术委员会 and senior lecturer of music. Dr. Boomgaarden will also discuss the historical context of Schubert’s works and musical style, and speak about his time in Vienna as a Fulbright scholar and guest professor at the University of Salzburg.

Seventh Annual a Capella Invitational

Muriel and Virginia Pless Center for Performing arts

当地高中, college and community a capella groups will participate in workshops, rehearsals and a show at St. Joseph’s 长岛校区. The day will culminate in a performance showcase open to all, featuring the event's participants. Each group will sing arrangements of today’s hits; doo-wop, barbershop and everything in between. This event is co-hosted by the St. 约瑟的专家.
